We are a small, nursery to 19, local authority run special school in the north west corner of Derbyshire. We cater for children and young adults with a whole range of needs, particularly those with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), communication difficulties, and those with challenging behaviour linked to their associated learning difficulties. We have a high staff to pupil ratio due to the specific needs of our pupils and also have on-site nurse, physiotherapist and speech and language therapists to provide specialist services.
We are located in a beautiful, rural environment, close to the borders of Cheshire, Stockport and Tameside, where we make full use of the local amenities and make a point of filling our curriculum with outdoor activities.
We hope our website will provide you with some information about Peak School and give you an insight into the special opportunities and facilities offered at the school. More information can also be found at our Facebook page via the link at the top of this page.
Choosing a school for your child is very important and cannot be undertaken by only looking at our website. We actively encourage prospective pupils and their parents/carers to visit the school to see the excellent provision which would be available if you were to make Peak School your choice.
I look forward to welcoming you to our school,
John McPherson – Headteacher
“My child has done more here in the short time he has been here than he did in 4 years at [mainstream] High School”
“My son would not have progressed if he had attended any other school than Peak.”
Every pupil can fulfil their potential within the unique PEAK curriculum, making learning motivating and relevant. This will be achieved through team work, dedication, patience and respect. We encourage our pupils, families and others to be involved every step of the way.
