Federation of Derbyshire Special Schools

In Jan 2016 nine of the ten Derbyshire Special Schools entered into a ‘soft federation’.

We have entered into this agreement as we believe that we are stronger as a group. The Headteachers of the schools will be working closely to support and offer critical challenge in order to raise standards further for all of the pupils in a Derbyshire Special School. As a group of schools we have a vast range of experiences and knowledge to share through collaboration and support

Aims

1.To maximise the best use of each special school’s expertise and particular skill sets

2.To share training in order to reduce costs

3.Developing joint responses to Local Authority and National agendas

4.Actively pursuing joint procurement opportunities towards best value

5.To establish and work through purposeful collaborative groups – e.g. HTs, DHTs, SBMs

Other schools within the Federation are:

Alfreton Park School – Alfreton

Ashgate Croft School – Chesterfield

Bennerley Fields School – Ilkeston

Brackenfield School – Long Eaton

Holbrook School – Nr Belper

Stanton Vale School – Long Eaton

Stubbin Wood School – Nr Mansfield
